Light Polution

We encourage all lake property owners to be sensitive to night sky pollution. Seriously - it's really annoying and frankly unnecessary. Spot lights aimed out at your front yard and/or dock lights shine out across the lake directly at those across the water. Particularly given the solar powered LED technologies available, which seem to be arriving on docks - and staying on all night, even long after folks have gone to bed (or home for the week). We like the night skies.

Our Recommendations

Night lights should be minimized, but where required aimed directly down onto your own property so that your neighbours can enjoy the night sky. Swim docks can be outfitted with reflectors, walkway lights to docks and even lights on docks should be placed minimally and be enabled to be turned off. So please use low wattage lighting where possible and turn them off when you can. Your neighbours will appreciate it!
